It was recently reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has privately referred to Mr Trump as a “moron”. I OBJECT! It will not stand.
The term “moron” comes from the Greek moros meaning dull. According to the old Binet scale of intelligence a moron has the mental age of an 8-12 year old. Using the more modern terminology a moron would have an IQ of between 51-70. What we used to call mentally retarded and now refer to as mentally challenged or disabled.
Below a moron is an imbecile. Now, an imbecile is someone with an IQ of 26-50. Not very sharp. An imbecile is a term no longer used in the psychiatric profession. So, it would be difficult to scientifically determine whether or not Mr Trump is an imbecile. I am willing to give him the benefit if the doubt and say: NO, Trump is not an imbecile.
Many people refer to Trump as an “idiot”. An idiot traditionally is described as someone with an IQ of between 0-25. The lowest intellect possible. So an idiot would be really low intellectually. A really dull person. Unable to do anything at all. But , let’s look at the word origin.
An idiot comes from the Greek idiotes which means “private citizen” , “individual” or “person without professional skill”. And in Latin idiota means an “uneducated or ignorant person.”
“…An idiot in Athenian democracy was someone who was characterized by self-centeredness and concerned almost exclusively with private—as opposed to public—affairs. Idiocy was the natural state of ignorance into which all persons were born and its opposite, citizenship, was effected through formalized education. In Athenian democracy, idiots were born and citizens were made through education (although citizenship was also largely hereditary)….”
So, an idiot is someone who is completely self-centered. Concerned exclusively with himself. Someone who has no public concerns. The perfect narcissist. An idiot cares only about himself. Period.
So, Mr Tillerson, you are wrong. I will not accept your analysis. Mr Trump is NOT a moron. What is he? You figure it out.
